Design Briefs
All design jobs start with a brief. Graphic Designers need design brief’s like cars need fuel: they don’t work otherwise.
Questions to think about when writing a brief for a designer can include the folowing …
Number of colors, preferred colors
Web Design and/or print?
(file types for web and print are different and need to be supplied in the correct formats)
File types needed
(CDR, PSD, AI, EPS, PDF, JPG, GIF, PNG you may need to approach your printer to find out what file types they require for print, the designer needs to know this)
Relevant copy for website design & stock photos you want included on the website
(essential for layout, designers are not copy writers)
For stationary, specify what you need and supply the rlevant information to go on the stock
Provide examples, links to sites or designs of styles you are looking for or prefer, this helps the designer get a feel for what you are looking for.Provide any other information you think relevant, a little information on the company, your direction in the design you are looking for. Ultimately the more information you can give the designer in a brief the better the results will be.
